Two Upcoming Events, open to the public:
Technology for Development: Tailoring Innovation to What the Planet's
Poorest People Need
*Thursday, April 6th, New York Academy of Sciences (NYC), 6 - 7:30 with
reception to follow (see website below for entrance fee)
*Friday, April 7th, Friends Hall, Ramapo College of New Jersey (Mahwah
NJ), 10 AM - Noon, with lunch to follow (free, including free lunch)


Although largely left out of the limelight, impressive efforts to
benefit our planet's poorest citizens are under way. Attend these
events to learn about appropriate technologies?affordable, field-hardy
solutions that stand poised to improve the lives of millions in
developing countries.

Both events feature:
*Amy Smith, MacArthur Fellow and MIT Engineering instructor
*Vijay Modi, Energy and Transportation manager for the Millennium
Villages
Project
*Appropriate technology devices on display

Ramapo event to include speakers from companies that manufacture
appropriate technology devices.  Ramapo lunch to be cooked (weather
permitting) in large solar oven.

Paul Munson, from Sun Ovens International, is interested in finding
other sites to display his cooker and educate about solar cookers.

www.sunoven.com ) if you'd like to host Paul and his solar cooker in
early or mid-April.

Rowena Gerber, from Miami Country Day School, is also interested in
having her students educate others about the work they are doing to
meaningfully connect with development efforts around the world.  Her
students will have some availability the week of April 10 - 14th.
